Outlay of Over £1,000,000 In Eight Months Building permits issued by the Auckland Citv Council for the first eight months of 1929 amount to more than £1,000.000. and is larger by £152,471 than the value of permits issued in the corresponding period of 1925. The total value of the August permit. £112,176. is £25,750 less than in August of last year. Permits for ! the construction of houses numbered 44, an increase of 14 compared with August, 1925. thus continuing the trend toward activity in residential building. The largest in value of the permits issued during the month was that of £11.233 for a block of flats in Brighton Road. The following table compares the value of the permits issued at the i Town Hall during the first eight months of 1929 and 1925:
