DOCK SITE LEASES
THREE MONTHS’ SUSPENSION HARBOUR BOARD DECISION A conference of the Harbour Board and representatives of the City Council, the Transport Board and the Town-Planning Association was held yesterday afternoon to discuss the question of the lease of the old dock site. It was ultimately announced by the board that action toward the disposal of the dock site would be suspended for three months. The board, however, declined to take part in any conference on the future use of the property. At the conclusion of the conference it was announced that the following resolutions had been adopted: (1) That the sections on the old dock site now open for lease be withdrawn for three months. (2) That the board considers it inadvisable at present to send delegates to any conference, but the chairman be authorised to give any information to those concerned that they may require. (3) That further consideration of the committee’s report of July 30 be deferred for three months. The last paragraph refers to a proposal by the Town-Planning Association that a strip along the Quay Street frontage of the block be reserved for public purposes.
