POLITICAL FORECAST
LABOUR’S POSITION “Parliament as at present constituted, is a very unstable quantity,” said Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau, in responding to the toast of “Parliament” at the Onehunga Fire Brigade's reunion on Saturday evening. “While the Labour Party is supporting the Government in the hope that the progress of land settlement, cheaper money and the solution of the unemployment problem will eventuate, circumstances may arise in which Sir Joseph W r ard may find it impossible to carry on. Shall we, therefore, prepare for coming events when the third party in the House—which, like the other parties, is in a minority—may be given an opportunity of carrying its policy into effect and proving its ■worth? Should circumstances place the Labour Party on the Treasury benches, we ask you to give it your support.”
