ARBITRATION COURT
AUCKLAND SESSION OPENS WELCOME TO JUDGE BUUJt The second quarterly Auckland session of the Arbitration Court began in the Supreme Court building this morning. Business for the day sajg confined to the allocation of fixtures. It is expected the sitting will continue until September 14. In the absence of Mr. Justice Kraxer who is studying the operation of th* Arbitration Court in Australia, th« president of the court is Mr. Justice Blair, who has associated with him Messrs. L. J. Schmitt and A. L. Mon. teith, employers' and workers’ representatives respectively. When his Honour had taken his seat he was welcomed by Mr. S. E. Wright secretary of the Auckland Employers’ Association, by Mr. T. Bloodworth. on behalf of the workers, and by Mr. jr L. G. West, who spoke as president of the Auckland Law Society. The fixture lint is as follows: August 26.—Journalists’ dispute. August 28. —Compensation cases Scott v. Brown, Baker v. Griffin. Manden v. Y.W.C.A., Morrison v. the King. August 29. —Maitland v. New Zealand Shipping Co., Ltd., Metcalf T . Leonard and Dlnglev. August 30. —Brick and Tile Workers’ dispute.
