BRIDE-ELECT HONOURED

MISS DOROTHY NOAKES ENTERTAINED NORTH SHORE PARTY Mrs. W. E. Spencer, of Victoria Road, Devonport, gave a delightful bridge evening in honour of Miss Dorothy Noakes, a bride-elect who is being entertained at numerous parties. Vari-hued anemones, blue irises and colourful Iceland poppies were used in profusion to decorate the rooms, and bright fires added their glow to the cheeriness of everything. Mrs. Spencer’s frock was black Spanish lace and georgette poised on pastel pink. Miss Dorothy Noakes was in black chiffon taffeta, with bouffant effect. Mrs. Webster and Mr. Scotr won the first bridge prizes, and Dr. Chesson and Mrs. Bloomfield the consolation gifts. The players included:—Commander and Mrs. Norman. Dr. and Mrs. Chesson, Dr. and Mrs. H. C. Bennett, Dr. and Mrs. T. G. de Clive Lowe, Dr. and Mrs. Wheeler, Dr. E. P. Gpencer. Mr. and Mrs. Bloomfield, Mr. and Mrs. Webster, Mr. and Mrs. Earle, Mr. and Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Alan O’Neill, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce-Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Kent.Tohnsson, Mr. and Mrs. Pittock, Miss Kitty Rogerson, Miss Gudgeon, Miss Prior. Another charmingly arranged party at which Mrs. Spencer was hostess took place in the afternoon, when bridge was the chief pastime. The guests were:—Mrs. Napier, sen., Mrs. Eldon Napier, Mrs. and Miss Gudgeon, Mrs. Rogerson. Mrs. Fraer. Mrs. Clark-Walker, Mrs. Carter. Mrs. Muller. Mrs. J. Newell. Mrs. J. W. King. Mrs. Coutts. Mrs. Fergusson, Mrs. Brown, Miss Sutton.
