TRAFFIC INCREASING
MOUNT EDEN ARTERIAL ROADS POLICY OF COUNCIL Increasing traffic on arterial roads, in the Mount Eden borough was pointed out by the Mayor, Mr. E. IT. Potter, to the council last evening. A discussion by the council on The growing use of ‘through” thoroughfares. also showed that this inncrease was responsible for the council s policy of putting its roads down in permanent material. Mr. Potter pointed out the expanding tendency of residents in surrounding districts to use Mount Eden’s road> Dominion, Mount Eden, and Balmoral Roads were particularly busy now. A report came from the traffic inspector on the weight of sight-seeins buses on the mountain, and Mr. Potter remarked that the idea was to restrict cumbersome buses. The mountain reservoir will be completed within the next few weeks.” he said, ’and then the roads can be put in order.’ ’ Speeding in the vicinity of 33onvnion and Balmoral Roads was criticised by several councillors. The traffic inspector is to investigate.
