GRAND AND LYRIC
“THE WOMAN FROM LUNA”
One of the most interesting scenes of “The Woman from Lima,” Fox Film which is now' at the Grand and Lyric Theatres, is that of an amusement park such as most summer resorts boast of. Mary As tor gives a meritorious performance as Dee Renuud, a “come-on” who lures the ticket buyers outside of an amusement concession known as “Hell.” The girl attempts to change her mode of life and marries the youthful keeper of a lighthouse, but the calm and peace of her new existence is marred by the intrusion of her former associates. How she finally wins out is dramatically told in the appealing story, based on a play. Robert Armstrong as the barker and Roy D’Arcy in the role of the seaside sheik offer excellent portrayals, while Dean Jagger is splendid as the young lighthouse keeper. “Beggars of Life,” the second big attraction at both theatres, is an unusual story of tramps and their unending conflict with the police, starring Louise Brooks, Richard Arlen and Wallace Beery..
