PLANE FIRES CHURCH
AMAZING CRASH NEAR BIRMINGHAM
BUILDING DESTROYED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Monday. A flying accident which had an extraordinary sequel occurred at Castle Bromwich, near Birmingham. A bombing airplane attached to the territorial flying squad crashed in flames on to the roof of St. Mary’s Church. The edifice was set on fire and destroyed. The pilot was injured, but he managed to scramble out of the airplane, and subsequently to escape from the church before it was fully alight.
