PINNED UNDER SLING

WORKER’S NARROW ESCAPE A waterside worker, All*. J. Reid, aged 27. was caught between a deI scending sling containing two tons of i butter and cases already piled in the i hold of the steamer Hurunui, at j Queen’s Wharf, about 7.30 p.m. yes- ! terday. His plight was noticed in time and he escaped serious injury. Air. Reid was steadying the sling when he slipped and was pinned by the shoulders against the cargo. The mishap was noticed and the crane stopped. Mr. Reid was badl\* bruised, but fortunately was not seriously crushed. After medical examination he was taken to his home at 6 Alackelvie Street. Grey Lynn, by the St. John Ambulance.
