NO TRADING
POWER BOARDS DECISION CHAIRMAN DENIES RUMOUR "The board has 'no intention whatsoever ot trading,” said Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, chairman o£ the Auckland Electric-Power Board, at a meeting yesterday. "There seems to be a general impression abroad that we will commence trading as soon as we occupy our new building, but there 1' no foundation to this rumour.” Recent criticisms which have been levelled at power boards for alleged interference with the trading of electrical firms had been completely answered by a report which came before the recent conference of boards in Wellington, said the chairman. This showed that only a few boards were trading, and the Auckland board was not one of them. Indeed, they themselves went so far as to finance customers in buying electrical fittings, to the consequent benefit of the trade. “We will make a loss if we begin trading.” said Mr. E. H. Potter. "We are making a profit now, and should stay as we are.”
