OPENING OF INQUEST

BODY IDENTIFIED The body of Thomas Leavy was viewed by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., and an inquest opened this morning. A companion of the dead man identified the body. George Frederick Cole described himself as a hawker, living at 119 Nel son Street. Leavy was a labourer in the employ of the Fletcher Construction Company. He was a widower aged 40 and rented a four-roomed house at 119 Nelson Street, where witness had lived with him for the past two months. “Leavy has no relatives in New Zealand,” added witness. “He comes from Ireland and has a brother there, and another in America.” The inquest was adjourned sine die.
