FAREWELL PARTY BY MOTHERS’ CLUB A very pleasant social afternoon was spent in the club room of the Y.W.C.A., when about 3 00 members and friends of the Mothers’ Club gathered to T-Jd farewell to one of the club’s first members, Mrs. Rankin, who is leaving- on a visit to Australia. During the afternoon the following items were contributed: —Songs by Mesdames Dickens, Ball. Strange, McLellan and Baker; elocutionary items. Mesdames Pankhurst, Mann and Miss Molly Morris: pianoforte solos, Mr. Jack McLellan. Mrs. Forrest acted as pianist. A competition was held and won by Mrs. Pankhurst. Mrs. Rankin was the recipient of a beautiful bouquet, presented by the

president, and a handsome travelling cushion, presented by Mrs. Henderson, on behalf of the members. All joined in singing, “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” Mrs. Rankin suitably responded. The opportunity was taken to present posies of violets to past officers, the presentations being ably carried out by Mrs. Rankin. Mrs. Rankin made a gift of a lovely table-centre to the club. Another pleasing feature of the afternoon was the presentation of a handsome supper set to Mrs. Medland, who was recently married. Mrs. Medland thanked the members for their gift. A happy afternoon was concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne’ 1 and the National Anthem.
