FAREWELL PARTY AT HAMILTON
MRS. E. M. COWIE IS GUEST OF HONOUR MANY PRESENTATIONS A xTrost enjoyable pa.rty was arranged at the Southwell school on Thursday afternoon to enable her many friends to bid farewell to Mrs. E. :vr. Cowie, who is leaving Hamilton after many years for a new home in Khapdallah, Wellington. The hostesses were Mrs. E. B. Heywood and Mrs. H. G. Sergei. Mrs. Hey wood’s handsome black frock was richly embroidered in colours. M.rs. Sergei was wearing a frock of black lace and georgette. Mrs. Cowie was in a charming frock of black bengaline, with touches of gold lame, and black ring velvet. She was carrying a lovely bouquet of violets, presented to her by Miss C. Hunter. The many guests were entertained in the spacious drawing rooms of Southwell, where anemones and masses of wattle were the flowers chosen for the decorations. A short musical programme was much enjoyed:—An instrumental trio by Mrs. A. English (piano), Miss H. Heywood (’cello), and Miss I. Leak (violin); and songs by Mrs. C. Bennett. During the afternoon Mrs. Heywood, on behalf of those present, and many who were unable to be there, asked Mrs. Cowie to accept a handsome fur coat, a silver tray, and a cheque, in memory of the very many friends she was leaving in the Waikato.
