; OPOTIKI SUNSHINE LEAGUE HOLDS SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL FUNCTION 1 ! RED AND WHITE STREAMERS Tho annual hospital ball, organised by the members of the Hospital Sunshine League, was held in the Alhambra Theatre, Opotiki, recently. There was a very large attendance of both dancers and spectators, and the ball was a hugo success financially and socially. The hall was strikingly decorated with red and white streamers leading from a huge red cross, and beautiful green palms and ferns lent a festive note. An excellent supper was served by the ladies. Those present were: Mrs. Fleming, who wore black velvet; Mrs. Stuart, in navy and scarlet crepe de chine; Mrs. Upton, wearing- black crepe de chine; Mrs. Burke, in rose crepe de chine; Mrs. Ren nett, wearing- ivory satin, scarlet shoulder posy; Mrs. G. Murray, who chose pink embossed chenille; Mrs. Steele, in green georgette, pink shawl; Mrs. Hunter, rose taffeta and tulle; Mrs. A. Scott, pale pink satin and shawl: Mrs. Dicker, sea green taffeta and silver lace. Mrs. Cliarlswood, who had on mauve georgette and tulle; Mrs. C. Cave, in cameo pink georgette; Mrs. Dickinson, wearing floral rayon; Mrs. Burton, floral georgette; Mrs. Wingate, in lemon georgette: Mrs. Vanstone, who wore red chenille, black fringed coat; Mrs. J. BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED EVENING PARTY AT REMUERA Mrs. Heath Preeut was hostess at a most enjoyable party at her home, “Lanarth," Tahora Avenue, Remuera, when Miss Lillian Quinn was entertained at an evening in honour of her approaching marriage. The reception hall, drawing room and study were gay with iceland poppies in large brass bowls, while tho dining room, where supper was served, was decorated with spring flowers in crystal and silver vases. Mrs. Preest received her guests in lemon georgette and silk net. The guest of honour wore a charming f.rock of sea foam georgette and silver. Among the guests were:—Mr. and Mrs. Lester, Mr. and Mrs. Keane, Mr. and Mrs. K. Stratton, Mr. and Mrs. 11. Cox, Miss J. Fuller, Mrs. Reid, Mrs. and Miss H. Belwerther, Miss Doe, Miss Punch, Miss Wrigg, Miss L. Watson, Miss Martin; Messrs. Kavanah, Downard, Blackwell, Bartlett, Simpson, Monk, Belworthy, and Marsters. FANCY DRESS SOCIAL PUKEKOHE METHODIST YOUNG PEOPLES’ CLUB A fancy dress social was held by the Fukekohe Methodist Young Peoples’ Club on Monday evening. There was an attendance of about seventy members and friends. On the judging of Mesdaings H. L. Fiebig and C. Switzer, prizes were awarded to Miss W. Turner, Good Luck, for the best costume; Miss J. Franklin,-Faint Box, most original; and Master I. Elliott, Golliwog, most humorous. Music was dispensed by Mrs. I. Fausett, Misses I). Purvis and E. Woodward.
