ALL-TALKIE FOR TWO THEATRES William Col Iyer, Jr-, tv ho plays one of the featured roles in “The Donovan Affair,” the Columbia 100 per cent, picture, coming- to the Roxy (now named Hippodrome) and the Crystal Palace Mount Eden, Theatres, on Saturday next, is a verv versatile young man. Besides being an actor, he is a playwright. In coilabo rat ion wi th a New York writer, he wrote the newspaper d r a m a, “E x t r a,” which had a long run in New York and on the road. Having had considerable experience on the stage, he is wen adapted to play a featured role in a| talking picture. He knows how to use his voice so that it will produce the greatest dramatic effect. This asset, in addition to the screen personality he has developed as a result of his years of picture experience, makes him one of the most desirable juvenile leads in dialogue pictures. In “The Donovan Affair,” he plays the juvenile lead opposite Dorothy Revier. His soft, beautifully modulated voice and his sensitive face make him the ideal choice for a romantic role. Others appearing in the cast are Jack Holt, John Roche. Ethel Wales, Agnes Ayres, Hank Mann, Edward Hearn, Virginia Brown Faire, Wheeler Oakman and Fred Ivelsey. Frank R. Capra directed. Richard pix’s first Paramount alltalking picture, “Nothing But the Truth,” has already arrived ill New Zealand, and is scheduled for early release in the Dominion.
