£10,790 ON STREETS
RECLAMATION PAVING AUTHORITY GIVEN Work of paving sireets in the Freeman’s Bay reclamation, at a total cost of £10,790, is to be carried out by the City Council. T AST evecius a letter from the Harbour Board said that, in May, 1926, the board paid £B,IOO to the council toward the cost of paving streets in the reclamation. The board’s engineer had drawn attention to the bad condition of the streets, and instant attention was requested. Mr. J. Tyler, acting City Engineer, reported that the council had made the agreement with the board over the paving costs. The amount was avail able, and he recommended that authority for proceeding with the work should be given. His estimate was £ 8,990 and £I,BOO for tarring and -anding. Beaumont, Daldy, Halsey, Jellicoe, Pakenham, Madden and Gaunt Streets were involved.
Authority for the work was given, on the recommendation of the Works Committee.
