POINCARE RESIGNS

BRIAND asked to form MINISTRY PRESIDENT’S COMMISSION (Australian and X.Z. Press Association) (United Service) PARIS, Sunday. The Prime Minister, M. Raymond Poincare, has resigned, as he has to undergo a serious operation. The President, M. Gaston Doumergue, has commissioned M. Aristide Briand, the Foreign Minister, to form a Ministry, which he will proceed to do tomorrow. If he is successful this will he his 12th Cabinet. A London message says King George and the British Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, have telegraphed their sympathy to M. Poincare. The London newspapers pay tributes to the French statesman for his career, which culminated in the ratification of the debt arrangements. The operation on M. Poincare has not yet been performed. His doctors are confident of bis recovery.
