MOTOR-CAR BURNED

OUTBREAK WHILE BEING TOWED DRIVER RECEIVES INJURIES (From Our Own CorrespondentJ WAIHI, Today. While Mr. Harold Elleringtou and some friends were motoring from Auckland to Waihi on Saturday afternoon the car burst into flames when nearing Maramaru. The occupants hastily scrambled out and extinguished the five, hut not before the flames had affected the steering gear. Another car was sent fx-om Waihi to tow the damaged car home and Mr. Athol Carr took his seat in the damaged car to steer. As soon as the tow-rope became taut Mr. Carr attempted to put the car into gear and it hurst into flames a second time. The occupants of the towing ear were unaware of Mr. Carr’s predicament for some time, and before they were made aware of the fact, Mr. Carr had received severe burns to his hands, and his clothes were partially desti'oyed. Before the flames could be extinguished the car was a total wreck. The damage was covered by insurance.
