ROMAN ABBEY STAYS HOME

TYPING'S GUARD has already left Cambridge for Riccarton to fulfil his Grand National engagements. Roman Abbey is reported to have gone amiss and will not make the trip. Wiltshire, Mangani and Uralla are expected to leave for Riccarton on Tuesday next. Mangani has done a lot of work on the roads and on his trainer’s property, but was at Te Rapa. He is reported to be very forward in condition. R. Syme, of course, will pilot Wiltshire in the Grand National Steeplechase, and he will be on Horomea in the Grand National Hurdles. Syme was on Horomea at Trentham recently when she won two races and was second in her other start.
