AMERICAN COMPETITION (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY, Friday. At a fruit marketing conference in Sydney today the need for proper organisation, if the Australian fruit trade is to hold its own against American competition in British markets, was stressed. It was stated that whereas there was an enormous crop of apples in Australia last year, the position would be reversed this year. Tasmania and Western Australia were the only States with normal crops. America sold 800,000 cases of apples in England last May.
