This revival by Allan VVilkie and his clever company is one of the rare events which (101118 far too infrequently into the life of the average theatre—goer, and to Air. \Vil—kie a debt of gratitude is due. In Goldsmith's play one sees the source of practically all England‘s comedies of manners. The foibles and fashions so subtly condemned by him) have remained unchanged through the course of a. century and a-half. and the genius of the man is better ap—preciated when one sees the indifferent attempts that his modern successors make in following him. Hardcastle. )liss Hunter-“fans makes an attractive Kate Hardcastle, While Miss Llildred Howard is an equal success as Constance Neville. The gossipy Airs. flardcastle is played effectively by Bliss Lorna. Forbes.
