Tramwaymen Stand by Committee
MAJORITY RE-ELECTED RESULT OF BALLOT That Auckland’s tramwaymen do not endorse the suggestion that they have been faultily led was amply shown in the secret ballot committee election held yesterday. The majority of the union committee of last year has been re-elected, the following being the names of those taking office for this year: President, Mr. F. Carr; vice-president, Mr. F. E. Martin; treasurer, Mr. W. C. Wills; secretary, Mr. J. Liddell: committee, Messrs. H. Bruce, S. Ardern, F. Ornstien, J. Jennings, T. Moore, F. Anderson, M. McAlister, C. Garrett, J. Boyd, H. Ludgate, E. Ashford, and Staladi. The men look upon the result of the ballot as a downright answer to the charge that the committee led them away in their stand regarding the demand made upon them to expunge a minute censuring members for giving evidence in support of the management In a recent appeal case. A decision concerning the proposal to submit the dispute which has arisen to arbitration will be decided by meetings at which all shifts will be represented. A general meeting of the union held last Thursday authorised a donation of £IOO to the earthquake fund.
