OUTBURST ON TRAM

INDIGNATION COSTS £2 A fit of indignation resulted in Harry Trainor speaking his mind to a tram conductor who had incurred his wrath on Saturday. A glance at Trainor’s list disclosed the fact that he had been many times similarly indignant. Trainor, alias Treanor, aged 58, pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning on charges of being drunk in Eden Terrace and using obscene language in a Dominion Road tram. According to Sub-Inspector McCarthy, Trainor’s outburst had been prompted by the conductor’s request for his ticket. There was a man and his wife sitting near and there were other passengers in the tram. Trainor was fined 10s or 4S hours’ on the first charge and £1 and witnesses’ expenses £l, in default seven days’ imprisonment on the second count.
