THREE OLD ENGLISH COMEDIES The box plans open at Lewis Eady, Ltd., on Wednesday next for the extraordinarily attractive programme Mr. Allan Wilkie offers for his new tour of the Dominion, which commences on Saturday ot His Majesty's Theatre, with a production of **Sh© Stoops To Conquer” or “The Mistakes of a Might.” Hero is the master work of that delightful Bohemian writer, Oliver Goldsmith, who decked tho most comic situations of farce with his beautiful stylo of writing wit without sting. Mo playgoer should miss the opportunity of seeing the immortal characters of Mr. and. Mrs. Hardcastle, their inimitable madcap of a son, Tony Lumpkin, the gallant freebooter of ladies’ hearts, Young Marlow, bucolic Diggory, and the rest. . The comedy is said to be Dascd on a practical joke played upon Goldsmith in his youth, when, asking his way to an hostelry, he was direct, -d to the local squire’s house. From beginning to end the fun is fast and furious, and tlie enjoyment is enhanced by the superb costuming of the period which Mr. Wilkie is executing in the most lavish manner possible, from plates of the period. ... Following upon ‘‘She Stoops to Conquer” will come Sheridan's masterpieces of “The School for Scandal” and "The Rivals," but the season will admit of but few performances in the ten nights for which the season is engaged. Matinees will be given on Wednesdays and Saturdays. "Mr. Wilkie calls attention to the programme of special popular prices.
