TEAM DRIVING
w HEN -Abaydos” stated boldly last season that team-driv-ing was in vogue, the assertion raised a hue and cry from the Canterbury Owners’ and Trainers’ Association, which live-wire organisation lost no time in refuting. Other heads of officialdom also contended such a state of affairs did not exist. But from the action of the Trotting Conference last week it is evident the “heads” were satisfied about the evil, as a rule brought in to the following effect proves:—**A horse may be disqualified for a race if a horseman driving or riding a horse belong, ing to the same owner, or trained by the same trainer interferes with another horse or its horseman.” To this an amendment, “that such driver may be disqualified for a longer period” was added. This clearly constitutes “team-driving,” and the conference is clearly out to stop the practice.
