XURY FAMILY RETURNS TO NEW ZEALAND GAILY-GARBED GREEKS “I am an American citizen of West Virginia; before that I was a Greek. There are seventeen in my party—all members of my family. We wish to tour New Zealand.” That explains, rather briefly, the identity of Mr. Peter Xury, gipsy wanderer and man of substance, who arrived in Auckland on the Niagara this morning. The Xurys have been in Auckland before, and their last place of abode "as Honolulu. Prior to that they were in Austualia and, at a still earlier date, they were to be found in New Zealand. This nomadic family includes three three married women, five girls, •hree boys and two infants. They •*hun publiety, but court attention by reason of the bizarre gaiety of their Rothes. A gigantive black felt hat of the sombrero type is the chief eccentricity of the leader of the party. Mrs. Peter Aury, however, appeared this monies in typically gipsy garb, her ensemble being completed by a vivid Sreen shawl.
The remaining members of the faintly were equally picturesque in their a ttire. One or two of the men, each whom had chosen suiting of the ultra-American cut, wore gaily decorated hats of the Spanish matador type. The younger women were protected trom the chill of the morning by bright shawls and wore gipsy hats of soft material, hung with ornaments. The Xurys are uncertain as to the ie ngth of their stay in New Zealand, travel because we have plenty money and want to spend it,” explained Mr. Xury, after a long diswith the representatives of Customs.
