POPULAR BANK MANAGER
PRESENTATION AT THAMES Mr. A. H. Wilson, manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Thames for the past ten years, who has been transferred to Gisborne, was given a complimentary dinner by the business people of Thames and settlers of the district on Friday evening. The function was held at the Royal Hotel, and was presided over by the Mayor, Mr. W. Bongard. In presenting Mr. Wilson with a silver salver as a mark of esteem in which he was held, Mr. Bongard said the whole district was sorry to lose him, but was proud that an old Thames boy had received such deserved promotion. He had been a great help to the farming community during the slump time, and by his aid many had been enabled to weather the stress of bad times. Mr. C. W. Harris, chairman of the Hauraki Plains County Council, said he was pleased on behalf of the Plains to be present to honour Mr. Wilson on behalf of the settlers. Mr. Wilson suitably replied.
On Friday afternoon the staff of the Bank of New Zealand presented Mr. Wilson with a set of crystal ware as a slight appreciation of the goodwill in which he was held by them.
