The farmers’ bug-bear—flood-water was the bone of contention that caused two deputations to wait on the Thames County Council. The deputation waited on the council on Thursday to protest agjfinst the proposal of the Public Works Department to divert Green’s Creek into the Ornahu Stream. The deputations represented an area, of 2,300 acres of the lo\v-lving portion that was affected by drainage operations. The deputation, headed by Messrs. F. Burkliardt and c Harvey, was in favour ot the Green Creek diversion providing that a. portion of the Ornahu Stream be widened and deepened. This, the deputation pointed out. should have been done when the dredge was previously in ornahu Stream. 1 The other deputation, of which Mr. E. Elliott was chief spokesman, obiected to the diversion of Green s. Cieek inder anv condition. He maintained that the overloading of the Ornahu Stream was a serious menace to the CO M n c t s r srs b A OV percy. M. Smith, C. Judd and R. Hansen concurred with the previous speaker. Before taking any action, the engineer and county riding members were instructed to inspect the locality. “Something like Pat’s house. When it was raining, he couldn't repair the tint and when it was fine there was no need to,” was the remark of Cr.
