SOCIAL EVENING

ORGANISED BY RAMBLERS’ DANCE CLUB

An enjoyable social evening was held in the Public Hall, Otahuhu, on Monday evening, the proceeds totalling £23, to be devoted to the Earthquake Relief Fund.

The function was organised by the Ramblers’ Dance Club, Messrs. R. Alleson, piano; J. Jorkinson, saxophone; Halsted, drums, and B. Wdieeler, banjo. Mr. G. Bentley acted as secretary and treasurer. The duties of master of ceremonies were carried out by Mr. Wells. During the evening Mr. T. Clements, Mayor of Otahuhu, extended a hearty welcome to the large gathering and thanked those present for their support of such a worthy effort. He also congratulated the Dance Club on the excellent results attained. Gaiety was added to the function by a. number of competitions. The prizes were donated by Mrs. Bentley, Mr. Smith. Mr. Fall well, Mr. C. R. Petrie, Mr. Hotson, Mr. Nicholas, Mr. Thorburn. Service Shoe Store, Mr. A. O. French, Misses Allpress, Mrs. Gardiner, Mr. Robson, Mr. Pinhey, Mr. Nelson, Mr. Williams. The winners of the various competitions were:—Monte Carlo waltz. Miss King and Mr. McDonald; spot waltz, Mrs. Carlton and Miss Hedge; jazz competition, Miss Turner and Mr. Doile. A progressive euchre tournament was won by Mrs. Duane.
