RIALTO AND REGENT, EPSOM

“THOROUGHBREDS” In “Thoroughbreds,” now at the Rialto and Regent (Epsom) Theatres, Marion Nixon has been provided with an excellent vehicle for her first starring production. The story concerns a racing combine who use a beautiful woman to influence a handsome young jockey into deliberately losing the race he could have won. The acting is superb, and the direction is matchless. The picture contains some of the most thrilling and dramatic horse-racing scenes filmed. Richard Walling is the leading man. The youthful player carries his role of the jockey with great success. Mary Xolan and Otis Harlan are two other stellar members of the case, which includes such players as Sam deGrasse and Montagu Love. The second attraction this evening will be “The Knight of Nights.” a vivid Parisian drama, with a brilliant cast of Continental artists. Norma Terris, noted star of musical comedy, who has appeared in the leading role of Magnolia during the sensational two-year run of Florenz Ziegfeld’s “Show Boat,” has been signed by Fox Films to a long term contract to make talking and singing pictures. Her first appearance will probably be in “Married in Hollywood.” Oscar Strauss’s latest operetta recently purchased by Fox. Havid Newell, Paramount's stage “discovery.” has been given his first role at the Paramount studios in Hollywood. He is to play a leading part in Clara Bow’s new all-talking circus story, “.Dangerous Curves.”
