BOXING AT OPOTIKI

RESULTS OF TOURNAMENT (From Our Own Correspondent) OPOTIKI, Today. A boxing tournament held at Opotiki last night before a good attendance i*esulted:— Miller (Opotiki) defeated Bunn (Whakatane) on points in three rounds. T. Rua (Opotiki) knocked out J. Tepapa (Waiotahi) in the third round. A four-round bout resulted in a draw between S. Goldsmith (Waioeka) and S. Matchitt (Opotiki). In a four-round heavy-weight bout S. Wells (Whakatane) knocked out Ward (Gisborne) in the last round. G. Lysaght (Opotiki) beat T. Warren (Opotiki) in the third round of a scheduled four-round bout. A. Savage (Edgecumbe) beat S. Chaikin on points in a four-round bout. H. Bunn (Whakatane) was beaten by C. Parkinson (Opotiki). In the star bout of six rounds, J. Shadbolt (Auckland) was beaten on points by T. Mullins (Taumarunui) after a good fight. Both lads tired early in the fight. Mullins showed himself the cleverer boxer. Air. J. O’Sullivan was referee.
