DRIVE FOR CLOTHES FOR NEEDY FOLK

TAUPIRI ACTIVITIES A very successful'clothing and pro-: dues drive was organised by a number 1 of women at Taupiri. with Mrs. F. J. Laybourn as secretary. Depots were formed at the outlying districts, and much sympathy was shown in a practical way. The result of the drive was very gratifying to the promoters, altogether 16 sacks of clothing and produce being collected. Grateful thanks are extended to all who so generously responded io the appeal The women desire also to thank those gentlemen who placed their cars and trucks at the disposal of the committee and who assisted by bringing in the parcels from the various depots. The proceeds of the drive are being equally divided between Sister Esther and the Rev. Jasper Calder. A great deal of good could be done by the various towns and smaller places organising to assist the social workers of our cities. Almost in every home there are articles of clothing that are not used, and it only requires a little effort to gather them in for the poor and needy. Sister Esther and other social workers make an appeal from time to time for clothing, etc., and it only requires one or two interested people to organise, and they would be surprised and gratified at the result.
