MORRINSVILLE NOTES

There is still a fairly keen demand for farm properties in the Morrinsville district. Within the last Aveek some of the deals completed have been: Mr. H. Arndt’s property of 109 acres on Tahuna Road, to Air. J. Scott. Palmerston North: Air. E. Speedy’s 129 acres on Tahuna Road, to Messrs. Wilcox Bros., Putaruru. Word was received on Monday of the death of Air. A. S. Slater, of Stratford. who recently purchased Mr. J. F. Norman’s farm at Kereone. Air. Slater was to have taken over possession on July 1. Two more houses arc to be built in AlorrinsA’ille. both for Air. P. S. Philpott. One will be erected in Park Street and the other in Lincoln Street. At a meeting of Te Puninga settlers this week it AA-as decided to proceed with the erection of a public hall on a site on Air. J. J. Patterson’s property. The sum of £6l Avas donated in the hall towards the project, and it was stated that other settlers not at the meeting would make donations, so that the hall could be opened practically free of debt. The committee elected was Alessrs. Dakers, L. Cubis. A. S. Lamb and W. F. Henry. At this week's meeting of the Morrinsville Borough Council, the actingdistrict engineer. New Zealand Railways, advised that the council’s request for the opening up of Moorhouse Street for vehicular traffic to the railway station would be instigated. The council approved of a new stock route from the eastern end of the town. \*ia Thames Street, Alexandra. Avenue. North Street, George Street. Coronation Road, Studholme. Snell and Tornea Streets. In reply to a complaint from the Morrinsville School Committee regarding speeding motor-cyclists, the council stated that the traffic inspector was now authorised to devote his time on sale days to regulating traffic.
