CONFERENCE SUGGESTION “NOT WHOLLY PRACTICABLE” Recommendations by the town-plan-ning conference held in Auckland in“U(le a suggestion for preparing a plan embodying the schemes of individual local authorities. The ratification of the decisions reached is being' sought from the local bodies represented at the conference. When the question came before the Takapuna Borough Council, Mr. J. W. Hayden said that the scheme was ambitious, idealistic and not altogether practicable. It was also likely to be extremely costly. Mr. Hayden added that action by any single borough on the North Shore without regard to the proposals of the remaining three would be unwise. His suggestion that the question should be deferred pending the return from Australia of tlie Mayor of Takapuna, Mr. J. W. Williamson, was adopted.
