PRIZES FOR SCOUTS

“VINDICTIVE” TROOP NIGHT Vocal and instrumental items were given at the Vindictive Sea Scouts’ prize-night at the Bayswater clubhouse on Saturday evening. On behalf of the mothers of the scouts, Lieutenant Haynes, R.N. (retired), presented Mr. L. R. Thode, the troop master, with a silk scarf and a writing case. Prizes presented by Mr. J. McKay were: Whaler Rowing Race, officers—NonCalliope Officers. Greasy 800m —Scout Holland. Swimming Race, 25yds—Scout Wallett. Swimming Race, 50yds—Mr. Ashfield. Ken Barnett Attendance Cup—Alfred Goodall. „ , . Whaler Sailing Race—Championship flag and cup, Calliope Company. Whaler Rowing Race—Championship flag and Mills Memorial Cup, Victory Company. Whaler Obstacle Race—Cup, Hawke Company. , Whaler Race, under oars, backward— Semaphore flags, Vindictive Company. Whaler Rowing Race —Takapuna Boating Club. The following received promotion;— Leading Signalmah A. Goodall to yeoman signals; Able Seaman V. Jenks and A. Breckon to leading signalmen; Bowman G. W. Clenaghan to coxswain. Several proficiency badges were also presented.
