BRAWLING TRIO SENT TO GAOL UPROAR LAST NIGHT A long-range conversation, besprinkled with the most objectioni able expletives, resulted in the appearance of two men and a woman at the Police Court this morning. j The trio had lived together in a j house In Goods Lane and, according ! to Sub-Inspector McCarthy, their committal to gaol would put an end to ‘‘the pest of the neighbourhood.” James Daley, aged 29, and his brother Joseph, aged 28, were charged with using obscene language. They pleaded guilty and James Daly also admitted being drunk. “That is why I used the language,” he said. Veronica Nelson, aged 39, pleaded guilty to breaking the terms of her prohibition order, but denied that she had used obscene language. The sub-inspector said that police had been told off to watch the house, about which there had been numerous complaints. Last night there had been a drunken brawl and the swearing could be heard outside the house. In regard to the other Daley, the sub-inspector said the ojapimstances were exactly similar. “BSth drunken wasters,” commented Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Constable Needham considered that there was no doubt about Veronica Nelson's language. She could he heard 100 yards away and passers-by had stopped and remarked on tlie uproar. When witness went into the house she was staggering about the kitchen while the brothers were in the bedroom. She had been the first of the three to use bad language and was the only woman in the house. Nelson said that she could remember nothing of the episode.
