MANY DIPLOMAS WON
STUDY OF HORTICULTURE REGULAR EXAMINATIONS Many diplomas In horticulture, by and without examination, have been issued in the past year, says the annual report of the Auckland District Council of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. The council is holding its annual meeting next Wednesday evening and Mr. G. A. Green, citriculturist to the institute, will give an address on the citrus fruits of Australia compared with those of New Zealand. Arrangements have been made for regular examinations for the diplomas and classes are being conducted at Seddon Memorial Technical College. The citrus committee has been active and has made progres with an experimental plot. A further grant from the Government is wanted by the committee to carry on researches. An offer of a section of Wainmuku kauri bush, worth £6OO, has been made by Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Wilson. The area has been preserved from destruction. Action has been taken in connection with several scenic reserves and members have been nominated for appointment as honorary inspectors by the Government.
