WIDOW PAYS £2 FINE PUT IT IN HER BAG Seen by a waitress putting a soup spoon in her bag while having her tea at a Queen Street restaurant. Cecilia Grogan appeared at the Police Court this morning. Grogan, a widow, pleaded not guiLv on a charge of attempted theft. Waitresses gave evidence, one saying that she had seen the woman put. a soup spoon in her bag and another that she had suspected her for som ■ time. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., declined to believe Grogan’s vigorous protestations of innocence and imposed a fine of £2 and ordered her to pay witnesses’ expenses 15s.
