“LINES OF WORRY”
Lines of worry, nervousness and anxiety, forced into the face a hundred times a day, inevitably dig themselves deeper and deeper; and since they are painless, some of us let them remain because we are too lazy to do anything about them. There are plenty of good, nourishing creams for toning up and cleansing the skin, which are equally good for dry and oily complexions. When the face is thin and haggard, gently pat a nourishing cream over all the lines in the face and neck. Do not rub or massage, lest you pull the skin and cause loose and flabby muscles. Apply the cream, and pat, pat, pat, until it disappears. Use an upward movement always when touching the face, and a little circling movement with the finer-tips around the eyes and mouth. Two fingers, the first and second, are passed over the eyes, one below and the other on the lids; both hands should be used at the same time. Have you lines at the corners of your mouth? If so, puff out your cheeks as if you were blowing bubbles, then pat in the nourishing cream, while the cheeks are still puffed out. This treatment is bound to erase those wrinkles. Not in one day, however! Nor, perhaps, in a week. It all depends upon how long the “trenches” have been there! When the face is inclined to be full and the flesh firm, brisk patting movements with the hands may be used in applying the cream. It is only when the akin is fine and the face slender that more gentle patting and circling movements are necessary. Always the upward movement for the face; and downward, if you please, for the chin. Soft paper is the nicest thing for removing surplus cream from your face and neck. Use this very gently, for after even the lighest massage the skin becomes tender and sensitive.
