AFTERNOON PARTY
BIRTHDAY HONOURED ( Mrs. Martyn and Mrs. Simpson. of Te Puke, were hostesses at a very enjoyable afternoon party at Mrs. Simpson’s residence. The drawing room was very attract- | , ively decorated with bronze chrvsan- 1 tliemums, holly berries and autumn r leaves arranged in black bowls. A novel birthday innovation was in- 1 troduced. Miss Watson, whose birth- t day was nearest to the 13th, being asked to cut a large birthday cake. 2 During the afternoon two competitions were held, the winners being Miss A. r Rogers and Mrs. Westlake. s Mrs. Martyn wore a gown of char- * treuse green jersey velour, fur trimmed, f and Mrs. Simpson was in a smart frock r of beige georgette and lace with a coatee of green satin. Those present were: Mesdames Mark. Westlake, Bailey, Duff. Brown. Burroughs, Hargreaves, Misses Watson, f Rogers. Bush. Wilkie, Bell (Tauranga), c Mollgaard. Jamieson, Turner.
