SCIENTIST’S FAITH

BELIEVES IN BIBLICAL MIRACLES “ROCK OF THE SCRIPTURE” LONDON, June 5. Sir John Ambrose-Fleming, the famous scientist, electrical and wireless authority and inventor, has affirmed his faith in Biblical miracles, the “Daily News’’ stated today. He said there was unbreakable testimony in favour of the Resurrection. “The Bible has the remarkable power of establishing its historical accuracy,” he added. “Many of its miracles do not seem the reversal of natural laws, but a guidance of them for Divine purposes. “when scientists by the use of the electro magnet can make a heavy ring float in the air, why question the story of Elisha floating an axehead on water?-” Sir John Fleming asked. “FAILURE OF SCIENCE” “The most trustworthy authorities believe that the Gospel is broadly based on historic facts.” he said. “We must choose between the impregnable rock of the Scripture or the slipping sands of evolutionary hynothesis. Apart from supernatural gifts of grace the future holds no promise of a final conquest over the ills of the flesh.” Sir John, who is 80 years of age, has been intimately associated with all the great applications of electrical science in the last 25 years—the telephone, electric lighting and wireless telegraphy. He is the inventor of the Thermionic valve, which has revolutionised wireless telegraphy and has also made wireless telephony possible. He was editor of the electricity section of the tenth edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, wrote 25 of the articles for the 11th edition, and is also the author of many works on electrical telephone and wireless research.
