RAILING CANADIAN GRAIN
The rapid progress which is being made with the Hudson Bay Railway is giving rise in Western Canada to tinticipations of the first shipments of groin from Fort Churchill this year. The statement was made at a sitting of the Koval Commission on grain m Saskatchewan, that in order to test .he insurance hazards of the Hudson route to the sea, negotiations were t.nder way by which the Federal Government, in co-operation with the wheat pool, would carry the first grain cargoes to Europe in ships of the Can» adian Merchant Marine. Should :ne Government undertake to carry first grain via Hudson Bay, it would prove of great value to the country generally and the wheat trade in P lr * ticular. ‘ When several shipments have been made, insurance companies _ have facts on which to base their rates.
