Obituary

MR. HELIER BREE Mr. Heller Bree, who died at Papakuraon Friday, at the age of 92, was born in Jersey and for several years engaged in farming in England. He came to New Zealand in 1863 in the ship Telegraph, arriving at Auckland, and soon after joined the militia, in which he served until he was demobilised. He received 50 acres grant at Alexandra in consideration of his military services. In 1574 Mr. Bree purchased a property at Wliangarata, but after three years removed to Raglan. In 1889 he returned to Whangarata and for many years engaged in farming there. Mrs. Bree died some years ago. Mr. Bree is survived by four sons and six daughters. MR. JAMES WYLLIE The death occurred on Friday of Mr. James Wyllie, of Puhi Nui Road, Papatoeioe, at the age of 75 years. Born at West Tamaki, Mr. Wyllie moved with his parents to Papatoetoe some 50 years ago. and since bis marriage had been farming on portion of the 560 acres originally owmed by his parents. Although not an active member of any of the agricultural societies Mr. Wyllie was always keenly interested in questions concerning the land, and in addition to dairy farming carried out extensive cropping on his 100-acre holding. Mr. Wyllie had seen Papatoetoe grow from a rural area to a popular suiburban residental area. He \vas a member of the Road Board prior to the formation of a town board district. Mr. Wyllie was the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wyllie. who had a family of 13 children. Three of his sons served in the late war, all of whom returned. Mr. Wyllie is survived by his wife, two daughters. Mrs. M. Timms, of Te Awamutu, and Miss Winnie Wyllie, of Papatoetoe, and five sons, Arthur, Herbert. Sydney and Fred, all of whom are farming in the Waikato.
