EMIL JANNINGS AT ROYAL

“The East Command,” now at the Royal Theatre, Kingsland, is one of the finest pictures made by the outstanding actor, Emil Jannings. The story opens in Hollywood with Jannings in the role of a poor actor seeking a job. He secures a part in a story of Russian life, and is cast as a general. As the old fellow is donning the uniform he remembers that he himself was once a proud Tsarist general, all-powerful and haughty. He is transported back to the past and lives over again his last command. Then he is called to his role in the studio.

Thomas Meighan is the star of the second feature, entitled “Blind Alleys.”
