THREE MORE DAYS

LEADERS REST BEFORE FINAL RALLIES BEST-BEHAVED CAMPAIGN British Official Wireless Reed. 11 a.m. RUGBY, Sunday. With three more days of intensive electioneering in front of them before the country goes to the poll on Thursday, the leaders of the three political parties, who spent last week addressing their supporters at dozens of meetings in different parts of the country, have been taking a rest during the week-end. The campaign is described as the best-behaved within living memory. There have been few instances of rancour and none of violence, while good-tempered heckling at some of the meetings has been the nearest approach to rowdiness which has been so common in the contests of the past.

Since 1900, the electorate has grown from under -7,000,000 to 28,000,000, and

there are 1.729 candidates aspiring tc fill 615 seats. With so many three cornered contests—there are onl> about 100 constituencies ■with onl\ two candidates—and with about 6,000,000 new voters on the register 5.000,000 of these being women, fresh elements of doubt are introduced as to Thursday's verdict. The increase in the electorate has made it impossible for candidates tc get into personal contact with more than a proportion of their constitu ents, but the microphone has this election proved an all-important fac tor and wireless broadcast speeches have enabled all who wished to dc so to hear carefully-prepared state meats from the party leaders.
