SOMERVILLE V. VARSITY matches for tomorrow . The meeting of Somerville and Varsity at Remuera tomorrow will be the ! clnef hockey match of the week. Neither side can afford to give away points, in view of earlier defeats., and a hard and fast ’game will result.! Somerville has not been up to form this season, and the team is still in a state of flux. The former has a more reliable forward line, but its goal-get-ting may be hampered by the excellent defence the church team is able to offer. Women’s matches will also be continued. EMPSON CUP MATCH (Front Our Own Correspondent> TE AWAMUTU, Thursday. Paterangi A and Ramblers met at Albert Park on Wednesday, under the auspices of the W aipa Hockey Association, for the Empson Cup. Victory rested with Paterangi by five goals to three. The game was fast throughout, and good play was witnessed on both sides. For the winners, G- Finch (3), E F.ell and R. Head shot goals, and for j Ramblers. G. Watson, C. Rogers and ; O. Civil scored. ... Waratahs went to Paterangi. but j found Paterangi B team too solid, j being defeated five goals to one—Bert 1 Spiers (2). A. Bowler (2), and Len j Spiers (I>. while Waratah's goal was l scored by H. J. Irwin.
