Valentine, chief accountant to the Railway Department, arrived in Auckland this morning from Wellington and sailed by the Ulimaroa for Australia, where he will attend a railway conference. Mr. J. R. Rendell’s resignation from the council of tho Auckland Chamber of Commerce was received at the meetof the council yesterday, when, on the motion of Mr. A. G. Lunn, the rhamber decided to place on record its appreciation of the excellent services he had rendered the council during the past six years.
