PURE TEA MISSES (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) SYDXEY, Thursday. Tattersall’s races at Randwick, postponed from Saturday, were held today. The principal events resulted: James Barnes Stakes.—lnducement. 10.6, 1; Octember, 7.0. 2; Murillo, 5.12. 3. Twelve started, including Puff and Bd§n Hall. Won by three-quarters of a length, half a length between second and third. Time, 2.221. Two-Year-Old Handicap.—Lorason, 7.7, 1; Tray Mobile, 7.3, 2: Palmdale, 7.8. 3. Twelve started, including Pure Tea. Won by a head, one and a-half lengths between second and third. Time. 1.141. Back to Hurdling Comical made a line bid for victory in the Century Hurdles yesterday. He was decisively beaten by Mister Gamp, who had a big pull in the weights. He jumped carefully and well, and will take a hand in some of the bigger races a little later in the season. T. Clarke has Comical well-conditioned and expected him to be well in the picture at the end of yesterday's race. Did Not Stay Locarno, who won very easily at Hawera, was made favourite for the Century Hurdles yesterday, but inability to stay defeated him. Finished Last Aberfeldy needed the race he had in the Centur y Hurdles, in which he tailed the geld. He will be at his best for the mid-winter meetings. Under a Cloud The withdrawal of Reremoana from the Connolly Handicap yesterday was due partly to the state of the track and partly to his not appearing to be quite right when he walked off the train at Wanganui on Wednesday. Suit Him Better Benzora started in the big mile and a-quarter at Wanganui yestehday, but is expected to start in the open sixfurlongs on Saturday, a race in which he should go particularly well. Won Easily Paitonu won so easily in the Connolly Handicap that he must be reckoned a most dangerous candidate for another middle distance race in the near future. In all probability he will go close to winning again on Saturday. Bisox ran very badly at Wanganui yesterday, but should do better at Ellerslie. She drew a bad marble in the Connolly Handicap. Lucky Winner Keddar was lucky in the Borough Handicap yesterday, as the whole field in front of him swung out at the home turn and allowed him to get through on the rails. He took advantage of the opening very smartly and won easily at the finish, though there is no certainty that Limited would not have gone very close to winning, to say the least, had he not been carried out very wide by Value, who was responsible for the occurrence at the en- i f.ranrp tr» otroio-hi
