ECONOMISTS SOUND NOTE OF WARNING TOO MUCH SPECULATION (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) WASHINGTON, Wednesday. The Economic Committee which was appointed in January, 1928, to report on recent economic changes in the United States has published its findings. The chairman was Mr. H. C. Hoover, now President. The committee depicts the country as enjoying an era of unprecedented prosperity. It says the standards of living are on a higher level than ever before. But the report goes on to say: We cannot maintain our economic advantage nor can we fully realise our economic future unless we consciously accept the principles of equilibrium. The report then gives a warning to the effect that the waste of natural resources and the transfer of money in quantity from production to speculation are developments which tend to destroy that equilibrium.
