TOUR OF MOUNT ALBERT
FIRE BRIGADE EFFICIENCY COUNCIL INSPECTS WORKS A party including members of the Mount Albert Borough Council, the Mavor, Mr. L. E. Rhodes, the town clerk and the borough engineer and other borough officers made a tour of Mount Albert and met at the biennial council luncheon yesterday. The party visited the Morningside reserve and the quarry plant and nurseries during the morning. Drainage and roading works were also inspected, and a member, wishing to test the efficiency of the fire brigade, gave an alarm from an outlying signal* box. The brigade appeared on the scene in a remarkably short time. In the afternoon the new sewer being built for the borough by the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board was visited, and the party inspected Gribblehurst Park, which is to be used as a sports ground and play area for children. Speaking at the luncheon, the Mayor, Mr. L. E. Rhodes, said that the coming two years should see great improvements in the borough works, and it was the duty of the council to ensure that they were completed to the best advantage. It was decided for the future to hold the lunch annually, instead of every two years.
